EC Montreal Visits the Shriner's Hospital!

Sharing is caring!

This afternoon our English in the City and English for Work classes visited the Shriner’s Hospital for Children as their outing. EC Montreal held its 15th annual charity bake sale last December and raised funds for the hospital. Through the bake sale and student lottery, we raised an amazing $810!

They invited us to the check presentation and gave us a tour of the new hospital. The hospital was designed with so much thoughtfulness and care! They are always so appreciative of our fundraising efforts. They made us feel like we donated thousands of dollars!

The students really enjoyed the tour. Their teachers had prepared them all week with the theme of healthcare. His students had so many experiences to share regarding healthcare in their country and the different type of systems in place – public vs private.

We visited every floor and the students got to see how each floor was designed to represent the different regions of Canada.  The Shriner’s hospital in Montreal is the only one in Canada.  There are 22 other hospitals all over the USA and one in Mexico.  The regions included British Colombia, the Saint-Lawrence valley, the Prairies, the Rockies, the Atlantic provinces, the Arctic and finally the cafeteria represented the Urban cities across Canada.  The students ended the tour there and sat around the table made from street signs to debrief and to plan their class projects.  We look forward to their presentations!

Giving feels so good!  When you join our EC Montreal English language school, we will introduce you to the Montreal community!
