Most people visit La Jolla for the warm weather, cool beaches and shopping boutiques. However, many are unaware of all the art La Jolla has to offer! In 2010, the La Jolla Community Foundation initiated a project called Murals of La Jolla by commissioning artists to create pieces to be displayed on local, private property. Now, passerby’s in La Jolla can spot a mural on almost every corner! Here are some of the many art murals displayed around the city…
“Favorite Color” by Roy McMakin
“53 Women” by Ryan McGinness
“House” by Robert Ginder
“Applied” by Richard Allen Morris
“at Sea” by Ann Hamilton
“Brain/Cloud (with Seascape and Palm Tree)” by John Baldessari
This is just one of the many experiences offered to students who learn English in San Diego. Next time you’re walking around downtown La Jolla, try to see how many murals you can spot!
