Brighton is a great city, there is no getting around it. People have been travelling here since Victorian times for its rolling hills, long beaches and general positive atmosphere. But you don’t have to take it from me, EC or our students. This is the opinion of millions demonstrated by the acclaimed travel website; TripAdvisor. The TripAdvisor community have recently announced what it describes as the worlds leading destinations. This list of best destinations in the world was based on the positive feedback and reviews to do with categories such as attractions, restaurants and accommodation.
Out of all the possible destinations to visit Brighton ranked very highly. Not only in the top 50, but in the top 10 best cities in the world to visit. Brighton was ranked 6th ! As best holiday location in the world, the only city in Britain to make it into TripAdvisors top 10 destinations. Obviously this isn’t news to us, as we’re used to how amazing this city is. But we’re still glad to have it recognised officially, so that the world can know of this awesome place. This isn’t a recent phenomenon, Brighton has been a popular place for a long while. Since 1984 when the first railway service was built between Brighton and London, there have been frequent visitors. Londoners would travel to Brighton for beach getaways, enjoying the pebbled beaches and therapeutic benefits of the seaside air. Visitors still regularly come to make use of the piers amusement arcade, the royal pavilion and the pubs and clubs.
