Apart from BBC’s ‘Match of the Day’ programme, it is hard to find much football on television these days that is free-to-air (i.e. you do not have to pay an additional subscription cost) but this weekend there are a host of football games on ITV (channel 3) from the FA Cup competition.
The FA Cup is the oldest association football tournament in the world having been first held in 1971-72!!
The pick of the games is Manchester United vs Manchester City on Sunday as the best two teams in the country go head-to-head.
The FA Cup 3rd round gives smaller teams the chance to play the likes of Premier League teams and there are still tickets in London for Tottenham vs Cheltenham Town and Arsenal vs Leeds United this weekend – should you wish to experience some English football during your stay. I will be watching my team, Aston Villa, in my hometown of Bristol against fourth-tier Bristol Rovers – I’m very excited!!
