The feast of St Joseph is tomorrow, the 19th of March, falling on a Thursday this year. In Maltese the name for the feast is Jum San Ġużepp and it is a public holiday in Malta. People usually hear mass in the morning and in the afternoon the people go for a picnic. In Rabat they celebrate with a procession in the evening with a statue of St Joseph, and in Zejtun an outstanding citizen is given the Zejtun Honour. Over the last two years, the church has held a procession with a statue of St Joseph just like Rabat does. In other parts of the world, this day is sometimes called father’s day because Saint Joseph is the foster father of Jesus and the husband of Mary so he is a symbol of fathers.
