Athos Argenta Fleming is a 16-year old EC Montreal English student from Brazil. He has been studying in our Advanced English class since January 3, 2017.
This is Athos last week at EC. He wanted to participate in EC Montreal’s Student Lecture Series. He chose to talk about something he is very passionate about – probabilities. Athos explained that he wants to become a physicist and numbers and probabilities are very important within this science.
Athos’ presentation talked about every day randomness and probabilities. For example, what is the math behind the probability of choosing heads over tails in a coin toss or what is the probability of rolling a 6 with a die.
He explained Pascal’s triangle theory and how this triangle is seen so often when data is gathered by other scientist who record guesses.
Athos gave a very entertaining presentation. It was a very different kind of presentation and we enjoyed it immensely.
We will miss Athos and all the energy and passion he brought to EC! He is one of the most mature and thoughtful 16-year olds we have ever hosted!
