We are delighted to welcome Maria Clara Murta to our team of student ambassadors. Our ambassadors are an important element to the EC Montreal team. They help to welcome our new students, assist us in promoting our activities programme and contribute to our energetic student life.
Here is what Maria Clara would like to share with all of you:
My name is Maria Clara and I am 23 years old. I am from Brazil where I live with one of my older brothers. I am a student of Geology at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where I study French as well. I am here at EC Montreal to continue my French studies and also to practice my English. Montreal is a city that allows me to speak both languages, I would really like to continue my studies in Canada after my graduation, so that I need a good knowledge of English and French.
At my university, I am a member of the Geology Centre of Studies and Research. It is an academic group formed by students only and with the purpose to bring improvements to the Geology department. We participate in the departmental meeting and decisions, we hold academic events and we carry out activities with new students in order to help them feel welcome at our school. These are extracurricular activities that allow me to learn more about interpersonal relationships in academia and to do something in return. I study at a free public university.
When I first arrived at EC, on my first day, I was very surprised by the amount of people from different countries and cultures and how the school is so prepared to welcome students from all over the world! I believe that becoming an ambassador student I am going to be able to help EC in the multicultural exchange and it is going to be great to get to know so many different people. Also, I believe that this experience is going to be very helpful to practice my French and to improve my language skills.
