We’ve had a busy second week over at EC Montreal Young Learners! With no students leaving from Week 1 and a rush of new student this past Monday, our Young Learners family grew bigger and closer!
This week’s theme was ‘Media’ and the students got to explore the world of media both in their classes and on afternoon activities. In their classes, the students prepared and recorded news broadcasts in teams of 3-4. Their news reports featured sections such as weather updates, sports reviews, and interviews with each other! Their final presentations took place today and the students were thrilled to show their peers what they’ve been working on!
Some of their activities this week included a trip to local TV studio ‘MAtv,’ as well as a trip to national TV broadcaster, CBC. Through this, the students saw various perspectives on the different forms of Canadian media and got to experience it both small- and large-scale. The students enjoyed their behind-the-scenes access in both studios and had lots of fun doing it!
Some other fun activities this week included bowling at Montreal’s Forum, which used to be the old Montreal Canadiens hockey arena! The students got to a experience a slice of Canadian hockey culture before heading to a fun day of bowling with their friends!
To end the week off, we celebrated our first Young Learners birthday! Mikhail is turning 16 this Sunday but the Young Learners family decided to surprise him in class with a slice of cake to let him know we’re thinking of him on his special day (even if it’s on the weekend)!
With Week 2 coming to an end, the EC Montreal Young Learners team is excited and ready to welcome our new students arriving on Monday!
