Ever wonder how exactly students can learn English quickly and with marked improvement? This week at EC San Diego, student Bandar Alkhdafi gave a presentation to Beginner and Intermediate ECSD students for the weekly Academic Year lecture. Bandar is currently finishing up his academic year at EC San Diego, and decided that his experience learning English at the school needed to be shared with classmates enrolled in lower level courses.
During the presentation Bandar emphasized his most important piece of advice for learning English at EC San Diego: Be Patient. Bandar said “When I first started here at EC San Diego, I doubted myself as a student. I thought I would never be able to improve my English to where I was comfortable speaking in front of people. Now I’m an advanced student, and speak well. I found out that I just needed to be patient, and learn from my experiences. This way I could discover the right way to study and improve my English, and my confidence when speaking English. So to students who are not advanced, or are new here, just be patient!”
Some additional advice from Bandar:
- You must value your time. We are only hear for a short time. No pain, no gain.
- Push yourself and set goals. Write down 3 goals right now.
- Try to stay in English. Make an English only day at home. Speak only English at the School – this helps every student at the school to feel like one big family.
Take it from Bandar, ECSD expert in the art of learning English: languages can be difficult, but with time, energy, and practice, learning English at EC San Diego can be a fun and rewarding experience.
As a student at EC San Diego, Bandar achieved his English language goals and now has the confidence and the skill to move forward in life. He will finish his Academic Year program at ECSD in July, and then join a pilot training program in the San Diego area!! As he says, you have to be patient when learning English, but it gets easier as you figure out the best way you can learn and grow as an English speaker at EC San Diego.
