Take advantage of the golden Maltese summer before autumn sets in by enjoying unique festivals and events taking place on Malta this month. Whether you are studying at EC Malta or on holiday, check out the most exciting events on in August.
The Delicata Classic Wine Festival
Try some of Malta’s best wine while enjoying stunning views over the Grand Harbour and The Three Cities. From August 4th-7th, the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta will host wine aficionados, local musicians, wine makers, and food caterers alike for the Delicata Classic Wine Festival. Entry to the event is free, while those who would like to sample one of the 24 wines available will have to purchase wristbands in return for as much wine as you would like as well as a souvenir wine glass to take home. Two local bands will perform each night and specific caterers have been chosen specifically for you to test the versatility of the wine selection with various types of food. The event begins at 7pm and closes at midnight each day of the festival.
The Gozo Ceramics Festival
Watch local artists practicing their craft during the Gozo Ceramics Festival on August 6th. Many ceramic making techniques will be shown including throwing, coiling, modelling, and firing. A children’s table will be set up to allow them to try making their own sculptures, led by an experienced pottery teacher. An installation of swans made by both the artists and children will be set up on the sand, with proceeds from their sale going to the Puttinu Cares charity to help families with children suffering from cancer. Make your way to Xlendi Bay on August 6th at 7pm to experience this unique festival.
The Great Vegetarian and Vegan Stand-up Barbecue Event
Experience a beautiful sunset from a private beach in the heart of Mellieha while enjoying a special vegetarian and vegan barbecue. Located at the Ramla Bay Resort, on August 15th starting at 8pm Mojitos Beach Terrace will celebrate vegan and vegetarian dishes while keeping in line with their signature Latino cuisine. The event offers a wide variety of antipastos, wraps, pasta, and even a selection of desserts including raw vegan and gluten free options. Get your tickets online before the event, but note that beverages are not included.
TheSoundYouNeed Festival
TheSoundYouNeed will be coming to Malta for the first time ever for a three-day festival from August 26th-29th. They have previously organised festivals in Paris, Los Angeles, and London to name a few, and have carefully chosen the line up to create a new atmosphere, rather than the traditional electronic music festival spirit. Some of the featured artists will include Flight Facilities and What So Not. While the concerts will take place in the Ta’Qali area, the event also promises boat parties and pool parties at various locations around the island, with more details to follow. Weekend tickets are available on the event website with single-day tickets to be available soon.
