The Quebec government had very good news to share today! They announced that Quebec beaches will be reopening on June 22! Social distancing is going to be enforced and recommended, however, this is very positive news as Montreal is expected to have a very hot and humid summer! Cooling off at a local beach will be a wonderful way to stay cool.
Many people are surprised to learn that we have so many beaches in and around Montreal. In the city itself, we have the Clock Tower beach in Old Montreal, the Verdun Beach and the Parc Jean Drapeau Beach. Just 40 minutes away, by car, you can go to the Beach Club in Point Calumet. It is a popular place to enjoy the lakes and dance to some pretty famous celebrity DJs.
June 22 is going to be an important day in the province of Quebec as this is the day that restaurants, shopping malls, gyms and camps and movie theatres will also reopen. This gives us hope and optimism that everything will be okay soon and we can resume our lives. We understand and must be very careful to respect our “new normal”. We must respect the rules of each establishment and be considerate of others around us. It is highly recommended to wear a mask indoors and to stay at least 6 feet apart from each other. It is also important not to exceed any public gatherings of more than 50 people outdoors and 10 people indoors. If we respect these guidelines we can prevent any further spread of the virus and prevent a second wave altogether.
We are excited at EC Montreal as we have officially announced a return to school date of August 31. Again, it will be a “new normal” to adjust to with a blended learning concept with onsite mixed with online lessons in English and French. This will limit our physical time at the school and in using public transportation.
