American Phrase of the Week!

Here at EC Oswego we are going to start doing an American word or phrase of the week!

This is a fun way for our students taking English language courses in the U.S. to gain knowledge about American slang!

Phrase of the week: Take a rain check

Definition: Telling someone you cannot accept and invitation now, but would like to do so at a later time

Used:

Friday #1: Do you want to go to the movies tonight?

Friend #2: I’m very tired from today.. I’ll have to take a rain check.

Can you think of ways to use this phrase in a conversation?

Check back next week for another weekly phrase/word!
