Today in the class students learning English for Academic purposes at EC Oswego were practicing their describing words!
Today’s activity started off with them having to brainstorm their favorite toy from when they were children. Then, they had to think of how it felt, smelled, looked, etc.
The students were then put into partners, and had to describe their toy to the other person. If the other person didn’t understand, they had to ask as many questions to get enough detail to understand! They also had to describe how the toy made them feel. This lead into students coming up with synonyms for words like happy, excited, sad, etc.
Students really had fun with this because they got to reminisce on their childhood while describing it to someone else!
Here are some pictures of them in the classroom!
