Elke is one of our u18s and has been studying at EC English school in Oxford for a month. She tells us about her EC experience:
Hello everyone, my name is Elke and I’m here to tell you my experience in EC Oxford. I’ve been here only for a month but these 4 weeks taught me a lot. Oxford is very different from my home town, and it includes the weather, the architecture, the food and of course, the language. I’ve been studying English since I was 6 years old but I believe that my skills increased dramatically after EC. I had the opportunity to improve my speaking, listening, writing and reading with incredible teachers and spectacular friends. Oxford is a beautiful city with all of those amazing universities and good atmosphere. In Brazil I was not used to take buses nor to be responsible for myself, so after this experience I know how to survive by myself as well as how to administrate my money! I first went to an Indian host family and saw the differences between my culture and theirs. After two weeks I changed to a new host family and they were from Albania. It amazed me because it is awesome how a small city can be full of many different cultures. Indian, Albanian, Brazilian, British and many others. I met nice friends and travelled with them to London and Liverpool during the weekends. I spent my Christmas night with them as well and I’m planning to spend my New Year’s Eve with them! They are like a second family here for me, just like the teachers and the staff from EC. Every Thursday in EC we have a cafe chat in the afternoon so we can talk to the other students and learn more about their lifestyle in their respective countries while we drink tea or coffee. I really enjoyed my time here and I hope that in the near future I will be able to come back! I know that I made the right decision on going to Oxford and to EC. There is no place that I would rather be and I don’t wanna come back to Brazil!
