Thanks a lot

I appearicated you for your offering practices.

It can help me to catch these basical grammar. at the same time, it brought some confidence on learning english and made me go on doing these.

Thanks a lot.

Did you used to ___ with

Did you used to ___ with dolls?

It got it right but I am confused for this sentence. Shouldn't it be:Were you used to play with dolls?

Thanks for your intellectual exercices.

Regards

used to

I used to play with dolls means that in the past I played with dolls, but now I don't.

Don't confuse it with get used to. e.g "I've been living in Kenya for 5 years and I still can't get used to the heat in summer." This used to means 'familiar with'.

Used to has very different meanings in both strucures.

THE LAST ONE - incorrect :(

The last sentence

Sorry, could you please explain why it is "lay" and not "laid" in the last sentence? As far as I know, the past tense of  the verb "to lay" is "laid"...Thank you.

9/10

I thought "lay" and "lied" are right both. I chose "lied" becouse it easier. Why not?

lie? lay? laid?

Remember it this way:

Lie is something you do to yourself.
Present tense -"I'm tired, I'm going to lie down."
Past tense - "Last night I lay on the carpet and fell asleep."

Lay is something you do to something/someone else.
Present tense - "Lay the blanket carefully on the bed."
Past tense - "She laid the baby in his cot for a nap."

The past tense of 'lie' is 'lay', and the past tense of 'lay' is 'laid'.
