I have never heard this expression but "Give me heads up ...." sounds like raise your head to give me a silent signal that you are ready to leave. But it' s just my guess, I may be totally wrong.

Heads up!

"Heads up" - means "attention". "Give me heads up" - means to inform, to let me know etc. It is a very useful site to learn something new. I like it very much!

guys, i agree when you say that heads up means to call attention. If you look it up in Mcmllan dictionary it means warning.
