Keeping fit at a language school in Brighton

Did you know that there are many studies that provide evidence that learning a second language has significant cognitive benefits? Therese Sullivan Caccavale, president of the National Network for Early Language Learning states:

“A 2007 study in Harwich, Massachusetts, showed that students who studied a foreign language in an articulated sequence outperformed their non-foreign language learning peers on the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) test after two-three years and significantly outperformed them after seven-eight years on all MCAS subtests.” *

Did you know that inactivity is the fourth leading risk factor for global morality? According to the World Health Organisation (WHO):

“Globally, six percent of deaths are attributed to physical inactivity. This follows high blood pressure (13%), tobacco use (9%) and is equal to high blood glucose (6%).” **

The same article goes on to say that adults should do at least 150 minutes of physical activity throughout the week or 75 minutes of vigorous activity.

That’s why EC English, who have a language school in Brighton, have a keep fit program for both students who attend the school and for the teachers. Every week there is the popular football session on Astroturf. Every fortnight there are three activities; Yoga, which is held in the school, the Under Cliff Jogging which carried out along Brighton seafront, and beach Volleyball which is held on special courts made of sand during summer. Our monthly event is our Country Walk with the Centre Director which is along our famous South Downs countryside. We also provide daily Boot Camp sessions to really boost your fitness levels.

Studying at EC Brighton not only improves the mind by learning English as a second language but also improves the fitness levels of the body.
