The Christmas coffee shop treats that contain more calories than a double cheeseburger

If you're worried about piling on the _1_ this Christmas, you should stay away from the high street coffee _2_ .

Some festive foods and drinks from Starbucks, Costa and Caffe Nero have more calories than a McDonald's double cheeseburger.

A large Starbucks eggnog latte contains 24g of saturated fat – more than the 20g daily _3_ for a woman recommended by doctors – and 74g of sugar (18 teaspoons). Doctors recommend adults consume a _4_ of 60g of sugar a day.  Eggnog is made with egg yolk, cream, sugar and nutmeg. The Starbucks latte is _5_, but contains espresso and milk.

And festive sandwiches from popular chains such as Pret A Manger and EAT are no better. A Christmas brie and cranberry sandwich from Pret has 33g of fat, while the Christmas Full Works offering from EAT contains 18g of fat and almost five _6_ of sugar.

Dr Frankie Phillips, of the British Dietetic Association, said: 'Such a massive amount of sugar and fat in one drink is alarming. The calories are the equivalent of a meal, but one that lacks any real _7_'.

Those watching their _8_ would be well advised stay away from some of the seasonal sandwich offerings at popular chains. A Christmas Brie & Cranberry sandwich from Pret packs 33g of fat, while the Christmas Full Works offering from EAT contains 14g of fat .
