"The Long and Winding Road" is a ballad written by Paul McCartney that originally appeared on The Beatles' album Let It Be. Recorded in 1969, McCartney wrote the song at his farm in Scotland, and was inspired by the growing tension among the members of the band. The band broke up in 1970.
